1. Basic Baggage Policy
Alaska Airlines allows you to bring the following things that qualify for the baggage policy for the basic fare:
- 1 personal item/hand luggage that does not exceed the standard - Free
- Checked Baggage - There is an additional fee based on the number of pieces of luggage (within allowance)
- Oversize luggage: Charges apply per bag for bags that are beyond weight or size, depending on the weight type and size.
- Sports Equipment - Fees may apply to some items.

2. Alaska Airlines Free Baggage Policy
You are permitted one personal item or one standard carry-on luggage free of charge on all Alaska Airlines basic flights. However, to avoid incurring extra taxes, you should pay attention to the free carry-on luggage size limitations.
For personal items: We recommend bringing bags such as purses, briefcases or laptop bags. It also depends on how your luggage is checked by airline personnel.
For hand luggage: Hand luggage should be 22 x 14 x 9 inches (55.88 x 35.56 x 22.86 cm) in size, including handles and wheels.
Alaska Airlines' baggage policy is distinctive in that it does not have a weight limit for handbags. Even so, make sure your checked bags can be lifted into the storage compartment.
3. Infant/Children's Baggage Policy
Alaska Airlines does not currently have a policy regarding infant luggage. Thus, all children's baggage, including carry-on and checked baggage, is charged the adult baggage fee. The luggage cost, however, will not be charged for strollers. You can check in and bring the stroller during your flight without paying any additional fees.
Alaska Airline allows you to bring 2 standard bags as checked baggage:
- Maximum dimension: 62 inches or 157 cm (length + width + height)
- Maximum weight: 50 pounds or 23 kg
The checked baggage charges and rules are as follows:
- 1st bag costs $30 for domestic flight, but free for business flight and flight within Alaska;
- 2nd bag costs $40 for domestic flight, but free for business flight and flight within Alaska;
- From the 3rd bag onward, each bag on domestic flight and business flight costs $100. For flight within Alaska, the 3rd bag will be free, and the 4th one onward costs $100 each.

For luggage that weighs more than 50 pounds (23 kg), Alaska Airlines will levy a surcharge for the following items:
- $100.00 USD per bag for 51 to 100 pounds (24 to 46 kg)
- Luggage weighing more than 100 pounds (46 kg) will not be accepted as checked or carry baggage.
The airline will additionally charge an extra $100.00 USD for luggage that is between 63 and 115 inches (160 and 292 cm) in length. Luggage that is bigger than 115 linear inches (292 cm) will not be accepted as checked baggage.
