      Overview of Philippine Airlines

      Philippine Airlines is the flagship airline of the Philippines. From its primary hub at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, the airline flies to 75 destinations all over the Philippines, as well as other destinations scattered around Asia, Australia, the South Pacific, the Middle East, Europe, and North America. Philippine Airlines operates both single-aisle and twin-aisle air crafts, with up to three configurations, including First Class, Business Class and Economy Class. Its subsidiary PAL express, offers Premium Economy Class configurations.

      Philippine Airlines Baggage Allowance Policy

      While the variety of classes provide customers with great flexibility and choices, it can also be a bit confusing at times. Worry not, as the CabinZero Crew has got you covered. We have prepared the most comprehensive breakdown of Philippine Airlines’ baggage policy for you.

      Every passenger travelling with Philippines Airlines is allowed to bring on-board one carry-on baggage free of charge. This baggage must:

      - Fit into either the overhead bin or the under-seat compartment in front;

      - Be maximum 45 in (115 cm) in cumulative dimensions;

      - Be maximum 15 lbs (7kg) in weight.

      The Philippine Airlines is generous enough to allow its passengers to carry on-board a maximum of 2 small items, in addition to their free carry-on bag (or other assistive devices for the disabled). Those items must be among these:

      - Laptop;

      - Overcoat, wrap, or blanket;

      - Pocket book;

      - Purse;

      - Reading material;

      - Small camera or binoculars;

      - Small handbag.

      Philippine Airlines employs a policy called Branded Fares, wherein each fare brand has its own free baggage allowance. Variables include Weight or Piece Concept, and specific routes. This, however, applies only to the entire journey if it’s specified on the ticket. Excess baggage fee might be collected should you happen to exceed the allowance limit on connecting flies.

      Piece Concept

      Where the piece concept applies, it is similar to conventional allowance rules, where there will be a limit to the number of pieces allowed as well as to dimensions and weight per piece. Passengers can check in a maximum of 2 pieces, both of which must:

      - Be maximum 70 lbs (32 kg) in weight;

      - Be maximum 62 in (158 cm) in cumulative dimensions.

      Passengers must, however, comply with the maximum allowance of their respective ticket type.

      Weight Concept

      Where the weight concept applies, the number of pieces will not be considered, only the weight and total dimensions will be taken into consideration. This applies to the majority of routes, as evidence in the tables in the following section.

      On Domestic Flights

      The following information demonstrates the free baggage allowance for domestic flights depending on the ticket type:

      - Economy Basic passengers are not permitted to check in any free baggage;

      - Economy Flex passengers can check in bags whose cumulative weight does not exceed 55 lbs (25 kg) on routes to/from Manila and 22 lbs (10 kg) for Bombardier Q300 and Q400 flights to other domestic destinations;

      - Economy Plus passengers can check in bags whose cumulative weight does not exceed 55 lbs (25 kg) on all routes;

      Do remember to carefully check your ticket and consult customer services to ensure you’re not mistaken, as you will be charged extra should you exceed the limit.

      Passengers are susceptible to surcharges should they exceed the baggage allowance. The fees applied will depend on the route, and if the weight concept or piece concept apply.
