Scandinavian Airlines Baggage Allowance & Cabin Bags

The carry-on allowance is determined by both the ticket type and the destination. All carry-on luggage must be stored in the bin above or beneath the seat in front of the passengers and must meet the following specifications: 

• Dimensions of maximum hand luggage: 22 x 18 x 9 in / 55 x 40 x 23 cm (length x width x height)
• Maximum hand baggage weight: 8 kg (17 lbs)
• Each passenger is permitted one carry-on bag and one handbag or laptop bag with a maximum dimensions of 15.7 x 11.8 x 5.9 in / 40 x 30 x 15 cm (height x width x depth).

SAS has a unique guideline about luggage under the seat. Accordingly, travellers are permitted to carry one additional bag, free of charge, with a maximum dimension of 40 x 30 x 15 cm (15.7 x 11.8 x 5.9 in). Should you desire, you can also purchase extra baggage allowances.

NOTE: When you take the bulkhead seats, during takeoff and landing, there is no under-seat storage space in front of you.

Do note that SAS Go Light doesn’t include any free carry-on bags. If you have a SAS Go Light ticket, the fee only covers a one-liner underseat bag no bigger than 40 x 30 x 15 cm (15.7 x 11.8 x 5.9 in). For example, you can bring a tiny handbag, laptop, or similar item that (must) fit beneath the passenger seat in front of you.

The number of free checked luggage varies depending on the ticket type you've purchased and where you're heading.

The key difference in luggage allowance is that travellers using SAS Plus service are permitted to add one checked bag free of charge, provided the standards listed below are satisfied.

Checked luggage that is over 62 linear inches (158 cm) is not permitted on Scandinavian Airlines. This means that the bag's total combined length, breadth, and height should not exceed 62 inches or 158 centimetres.

SAS Go, SAS Plus, and SAS Business are the three primary categories of tickets offered by Scandinavian Airlines at the moment:

• SAS Go options and SAS Plus Smart include one piece of complimentary checked baggage weighing no more than 23kg (50 lbs).
• In comparison, SAS Plus Pro and SAS Plus Bonus include two checked bags with the same weight restriction.
• SAS Business prices offer two complimentary checked bags, the weight restriction is doubled to 32kg (70 lbs) per piece on most flights.

For budget-conscious customers, a fourth pricing option called SAS Go Light is offered on select domestic flights. This is the only Scandinavian Airlines fare type that doesn't include complimentary checked luggage.

Scandinavian Airlines' large baggage regulations for hand luggage are relatively easy. Weight limits apply to checked luggage on Scandinavian Airlines. Individually checked luggage for most tickets cannot exceed 23 kg (50 lbs), while certain prices/routes allow up to 32kg (70 lbs) of checked baggage per fare.

Excess baggage will be charged an extra price, which can vary depending on whether the trip is domestic or international. When the baggage weighs above 32 kg (70 lbs), it must be repackaged or delivered in freight. Passengers can check up to 9 pieces of additional luggage.

• Checked luggage on Scandinavian Airlines can not be larger than 62 linear inches (158 cm) with a 32 kg (70 lbs) maximum weight. Larger items of luggage can not fit on some flights.

If you want additional checked luggage in addition to your Scandinavian Airlines cost, you can do it in advance or at the airport. Specifically, you can pay between €20-105 for 23 kg (50) of extra checked bags.

When travelling with SAS, passengers can check in a range of sporting equipment and specific baggage. Bicycles, ski/snowboard equipment, golf bags, gliders, vaulting poles, and surfboards must be checked in before flying by contacting the SAS Customer Contact Centre or filling out an online form.

Sports equipment weighing up to 23 kg / 50 lbs (equipment + carrying bag) can be included as a part of the checked baggage and transported for free. You must pay an extra baggage fee if your sports equipment weighs between 23.1–32 kg.

Check in your special luggage as soon as feasible, at least 24 hours before departure. Contact their Customer Service if you need to bring your special luggage on the plane within less than 24 hours of departing.

In general, the luggage restrictions for infants under two years of age in Scandinavian Airlines cabins are relatively easy, and practically any tourist can follow them. Unless you are flying SAS Go Light class, you can check in luggage weighing up to 23 kg (50 lb) per flight for your child.

You will also be permitted to bring a stroller as free baggage on the journey. However, infants are not entitled to carry-on baggage allowance, thus you must include the baby stuff in your own carry-on baggage if you want to bring them into the cabin.
